Music MDs will send you an email to book your dates each month. We’re flexible; you get to choose your dates every month.
To cancel or change your performance dates, please:
Email ricemusicmds@gmail.com with the subject line “CANCELLATION: (performance date), (your name).”
Performance
Be familiar with your music! You don’t need to have everything memorized, but it’s always a little easier to know it well than carry around sheet music.
Music MDs uniform is formal attire for in-person performances:

Bottoms: formal pants or skirt, knee-length or longer

Tops: formal shirt/blouse with sleeves

Closed toe shoes

Knee-length or below dresses

Please avoid the color black and color-coordinate, if possible, with your ensemble

Hospital ID badge should always be visible
For virtual performances:

Formal attire, preferably not black

Onboarding
Ben Taub:

Fill out online application. Put “Rice MusicMDs” under “group code” (IMPORTANT)

After a week or two, you’ll receive an email with instructions to schedule an “Occupational Health Clinic” (OHC) interview for medical clearance. This is a TB blood draw test, not an actual interview.

If you already have documentation of a TB x-ray test or TB blood test (skin test does not count) then you can skip this step; you’ll simply need to submit the documentation on the portal.

Fill out the required documentation from the email.

ON DAY OF APPOINTMENT

Bring your documentation from email, vaccination records, and COVID-19 vaccination card

If you Uber/Lyft, make sure to keep the receipt for reimbursement

Directions: Ask front desk for directions to Occupational Health Clinic. (It is on the 2nd floor of the Ben Taub Towers building, in the grove on your left before you reach the parking garage.) Or, send a message in the GroupMe for help if you need it!

The clinic will draw your blood to perform a TB titer test.

When you are approved for medical clearance, you will get an email to complete online orientation. You will need to complete 14 online modules through the Saba system (all links and instructions will be provided in the email)

Once you submit your certificate of orientation completion, wait until you are notified to schedule a “new volunteer” interview.

Complete the “new volunteer” interview

Finally, get your badge!
Houston Methodist Hospital:

Complete the online application through the hospital.

Fill out the background paperwork.
-
Complete the health screening (TB Test and Drug Test).

Complete the volunteer orientation and training session

Get a volunteer badge!
